The Palani Hills home to a diverse landscape. A region known for its biodiversity. A place also known for its picturesque Hill Station, Kore Canal. Situated within this environment is the Kanal golf club enticing avid golfers from across the world for the last 150 years founded during the times of the British Raj. The club today is a part of any golfer itinerary as well as integral to the town itself. The 18 hole golf course is spread over 100 acres dotted with water bodies, marshlands and hills. The land has been leased from the forest department government of Tamil Nadu and the club understands its special responsibility towards the environment and the community especially given its delicate location. Maintaining a golf club to world standards is quite a task but doing so in a unique biodiverse region brings with it unique challenges. The most common issues in golf course management are conservation of water, soil and preventing man animal conflicts. The club has successfully addressed all these concerns largely by instituting one main change, moving towards organic turf management.
