this year's on the table event started dozens of conversations all across Macon, but at the making Fire Department, public safety wasn't the only topic at the table. The smoked hamburgers, baked beans, banana putting, an immeasurable hospitality. I started cooking as a kid watching my grandmother cooking. My mom picked up. That's Captain Jimmy Hollis. He's been a firefighter 24 years now, and although he isn't the only one that can cook at the station, he's the one with the best skills. It just goes in a pan and toast, Right? That's good to go. I enjoy cooking. Guys obviously enjoy eating. They worked out just fine. My wife from home. We're here together 24 hours at a time every other day. We're a little bit different in most departments because we were 24 24. Firehouse food creates a sense of community beyond the station, especially on the days when the men hit the grocery store but are still on call. And you know, the grow store. They understand. They're like, OK, we got it, they'll put it on the side. It just got a bunch of cold meats or something cooler and come back right here. This year's event sparked interest with community members that attended for both the public safety conversations, and Hollis is famous burgers. Information regarding next year's on the table event has yet to be posted.
