The 1911 pistol is an iconic handgun that has been beloved by generations of gun owners. It was designed by John Moses Browning and is well known for its accuracy, low recoil and high versatility. The 1911 is commonly used for target shooting, hunting and self defense and its popularity has endured due to its military use and aesthetically pleasing design. It is also a popular platform for customization allowing users to customize their gun to their specific needs. The 1911 is an American icon and has been used in several wars making it an enduring symbol of power and military strength. But what is the best? 1911? Let's dive in number six, Taurus pt 1911. The Taurus company is founded by the Brazilian Taurus Armis S A through subsidiaries. The company produces many of its models in Miami Florida in the United States at 38 ounces. The gun comes at a slightly lighter weight than the Ruger and with the same magazine capacity of eight plus one rounds. Moreover at a street price of 450 to $500 we can say that the Taurus offers a variety of features that can be found in more expensive models. The PT 1911 features an ambidextrous safety and a full length guide rod which is important but most of the competitors don't have it. The trigger is skeletonized with regulated over travel which allows you to be accurate even at 50 yards with suitable ammunition. The hammer is significantly lightened while the ejection port is flared and lowered. It features a bushing wrench recoil control mechanism and slide serrations, both front and rear. Furthermore, the gun comes with a lifetime warranty and 28 round magazines. What's more to ask from a gun with a street price of around $500. Number five, Ruger Sr 1911, the Ruger Sr 1911 is my pick for one of the best values in firearms these days. Ruger has absolutely nailed the budget market these days and this 1911 is a good example of that. The Sr 1911 is entirely made in America and is finished with an attention to detail that you don't get on many 19 elevens cheaper than this. The slide to frame fitment is excellent and the matte stainless finish is beautiful and won't glare in bright sunlight with the base model. I've got an excellent reliability, never had an issue that wasn't related to a bad magazine and some pretty respectable accuracy as well as with some loads producing sub three inch groups at 25 yards off a sandbag, not bad at all. And downright exceptional for the price. If the idea of stainless 1911 doesn't blow your hair back, there are a few different finish options available including a nice bone model. You can also get officer and commander length options and even some nine millimeter options. If that's your thing particularly good for a single stack competition. If you want to spend a little more, you have an option for an upgraded target model as well. Number four, Rock Island Armory M 1911 A two Fs. This gun is a definition of solid and you can expect nothing less from the Ria. A manufacturer notable for their affordable yet effective pieces. The 1911 A two is a modern take on its second world war ancestor. It's a standard government issue with a five inch barrel and a side that's both respectable yet convenient for concealment. I like the black matte coating that adds an elegant touch to the design. The sighting is a standard dovetail which I wasn't particularly fond of. However, I have quickly realized that you can switch them up depending on your preferences. A nice detail. As with most 19 elevens, the sliding trigger pressure is smooth and easy, something that both novice shooters and seasoned gunmen will appreciate. In fact, I'd say that the trigger works better than some more expensive models of other guns. And that's a big deal. When you combine it with a fairly light recoil, you could say that this gun passed my test. I'm not used to the dovetail sighting, so it didn't really contribute to my testing. I eventually switched it up and adjusted the rear sights slightly and the results were night and day. However, it sits pretty well in the hand. Thanks to the rough polymer grip. Overall, it's a good gun for any type of defense while being light enough that you can carry it. If your budget is in the range of 500 to $1000 this may be the perfect 1911 for you. Number three, Dan Wesson specialist, according to Dan Wesson, they designed the specialist because a police department wanted a more modern and capable 1911 to replace their aging service pistols, I would have said go glock. But Dan Wesson developed a specialist, they developed the weapon in various calibers including the powerful and hard hitting 10 millimeter, the trigger and inherent accuracy of the 1911 mixes well with the powerful 10 millimeter. It's a flat shooting cartridge with 100 yard capability with a full powered 10 millimeter load with 10 millimeter. You want a well built gun and Dan Wesson makes very well built guns. The specialist gives you that classic 1911 design but adds a modern rail for an accessory. Dan Wesson tossed on an ambi safety, a massive beaver tail, a mag well for quick reloads, Novak style sites, enhanced slide serrations and mainspring housing checkering. All in all the specialist is built to be a modern firing pistol. The 10 millimeter works well for gunfighting and when mixed with the right pistol, you get a versatile and capable weapon. The specialist offers a solid weapon that can stand up to thousands of full powered 10 millimeter rounds without issue. You won't see a cracked frame before the breaking is over by any means. Plus it's modernized for carry considerations and will certainly provide you with a top of the line 1911 for all your daily needs. Number two Colt Delta Elite, not your typical 45 Colt, but a particular version for 10 millimeter. The Delta Elite is the current weapon of choice for most FBI field agents you can buy it and shoot it on the same day. No break in period is needed. This one scores high on safety featuring a large beaver tail grip safety against slide cuts. The thumb safety is ergonomic offering an excellent firing grip with a thumb on top, not under the safety lever. The sites front and rear are dovetail mounted in the slide. Yet some adjustable site would improve that a bit. The three white dots A standard option E comes in handy during nighttime and the three white dots. A standard option that comes in handy during nighttime enhances accuracy. I've also seen these used with holographic optic systems before the gun might seem too sharp on the edges. It could use some rounding. It also has a pronounced recoil more than the 45 version. So you need to handle it firmly. Number one, Springfield Armory 1911, Ds prodigy the Springfield Armory 1911, Ds prodigy is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a high performance 1911 style pistol. Its double stack nine millimeter design allows it to have a high capacity of up to 20 plus one rounds. Perfect for range use or competition shooting. Many don't consider a double stack a true 1911, but this one is true to form with a solid single piece frame. The 4.25 inch match grade bull barrel provides excellent accuracy and recoil control. While the agency optic system A OS allows you to upgrade your 1911 with modern optics. Additionally, the prodigy is reasonably priced and comes with both 17 round and 20 run magazines right out of the box. Thus, it can easily serve both range use and competition shooting needs. It's no wonder why the Springfield Armory 1911 Ds prodigy is so popular among 1911 enthusiasts. It's truly a dream to shoot and there you have it. The top 1911 pistols on the scene.
