It was a quiet spring afternoon in May 1917 in the Boston suburb of Brookline when Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy gave birth to a baby boy in the master bedroom of the modest Kennedy household. The future president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, took his first breath around three o'clock PM Those of Kennedy's parents, Joe and Rose, were third generation Irish Catholics. Their ancestors had traveled to the United States in the late 18 hundreds, following years of a deadly famine equipped with nothing but a handful of change and hope about the American dream. In his younger years, Joe Kennedy had considerable self assurance and energy. His blue eyes, amber hair, gleaming white teeth and graceful physique made an impression on those who met him. One day while vacationing at the Old Orchard Beach in Maine, Joe met a beautiful young woman named Rose Fitzgerald. Rose was an unusually smart girl who was the youngest ever to graduate from her high school. Her father, John Honey Fitz Gerald, was an esteemed politician on a peaceful October day in 1914, Joe and Rose were married. The reception was small, but it was followed by romantic honeymoon ventures in Philadelphia and West Virginia riding, playing tennis and golfing nine months after their honeymoon. Joseph Kennedy Jr was born in July 1915. Their second child, John F. Kennedy, known by friends and family as Jack, was born. Almost two years later, on March 29 1917. It was the dawn of one of the most prominent American dynasties.
