usually when aliases ready early. He makes sure Mama and Papa aren't watching, then teases me by sticking his tongue out at me. I wrinkle my nose to make a mean face and do the same back to him. It makes us giggle. But this morning he just stares at Mama with his eyebrows pulled together and his mouth turned down. My doll has short blonde hair like mine. Hers is pinned back on each side, with big bows of slippery pink ribbon, like the new blue ribbon tied at the side of my own hair. She wears a pink dress with flowers sewn around the hem and a white collar with lace all around it. Not just bits and pieces here and there, like the collar on my own dress. Her white sweater has the most beautiful crystal buttons I've ever seen. It's pretty, but not as pretty as my red sweater that Mama made just for me. My eyes grow is wide as I can make them. When I see the dolls, shoes and socks, white socks with lace and shiny white shoes with a buckle, they're whiter than white. I've never seen such beautiful closed, especially those shoes and socks. I touched the doll's eyes. Oh, they close. I touched her hair, her bows, her dress, her shoes. I try to sit as close to her as I can. I can hardly believe she's mine. I must be a very good girl to have this stranger come all the way from America just to bring me such a doll.
