artificial intelligence is changing the face of agriculture as farmers are confronted by new challenges fuelled by climate change. A I powered technology is equipping them with the tools to adapt. A new mobile app developed by scientists from I, C B A and the University of Barcelona, uses artificial intelligence to give in on the spot diagnosis of plant diseases, using a smartphone camera with pests and diseases responsible for between 20 to 40% of annual crop losses. Detecting and responding to these rapidly can support food security, rural livelihoods and national economies.
