The ball at my feet, a sea of grass with poles on each side free as the wind, all the problems in life fading away for 90 minutes. Hello, ladies and gentlemen, this is visual and today I'm here to talk about the legendary and beautiful game called football. Football is a world sport played with the ball between two teams consisting of 11 players each with two nets at both ends of the pitch. The objective being to put the ball into the back of the net within the 90 minutes of time allotted. Obviously, football needs no introduction. A game that has been played all across the world since centuries ago. A game which has topped wars and a game which has started numerous ones. The El Classico, the classic, the Milan Derby, Boca Juniors versus River Plate, Liverpool versus Manchester United. And how can we forget the Messi versus Ronaldo rivalry? Football is a game which has united all of us together. The history of football has witnessed legends like Pele Maradona Zidan, Ronaldinho Ronaldo Nazario, Iniesta, Casilla Buffon Ronaldo Messi and the list goes on and on and on. Did you know Europe is most famous for it's competitive football leagues like the La Liga in Spain, premier League in England, Syria in Italy, Bundesliga in Germany and league one in France and the grandest of them all the UEFA champions league in which Europe's top football clubs compete against each other. Every year. Every four years, the world unites to witness the World Cup, the oldest and most prestigious tournament in the history of football. The clash of the top 32 nations from all around the world, the music, the immaculate vibes, the energy, the fans. It is a feeling that must be witnessed, not described. Football is more than just a game. It's an emotion. Did you know back in the two thousands, the Ivory Coast football legend I Drogba managed to stop a civil war that was raging in his home country. He stopped it by helping his nation qualify for the World Cup for the first time ever. You Ryan Ryan, do you know it is the South West men and women of Ivory Coast from the North, South center and West we proved today that all Ians can coexist and play together with shared aim to qualify for the World Cup. Today we beg you on our knees, forgive, forgive, forgive the one country in Africa with so many riches must not descend into war. Please lay down your weapons, hold elections all will be better. We want to have fun to stop firing your guns. Truly shows how football can unite us regardless of politics, rivalries, war and hate for some. It may be a game. But for us fans, football is more than just a game. Football is life. It has taught me more about the world than education ever did. It has taught me discipline, team work, perseverance, goal setting, time management and keeping fit football, taught me how to handle success and failure. It showed me the harshest realities of life. It showed me no matter how good a run you're having in life, it is important to stay grounded. It taught me how to rise back up whenever life pushed me down. So folks, you asked me why I love football. This is why that's my time. I hope you'll enjoy this feature. Regards from your radio performer and football fan. Vishnu.
