About Chloe Taylor
I'm a voice actor, screen actor, singer/songwriter, and character voice actor. I've voiced big, national/international projects for Google, Skype, Ben & Jerry's, KIND Bars, had songs placed on Showtime's Nurse Jackie and in Sony Playstations new game Until Dawn, and had screen parts in multiple indie films and the series Salem. I have performed my songs on tons of stages and I spend a lot of time in my home studio, making cool recordings. I love bringing scripts to life.

I provide clear and edited (if appropriate) reads of your scripts, in any file format you choose. I can work alone, or take live direction via phone patch, Source Connect, or ISDN (additional fee for ISDN). I can do both Union and Non-Union work.
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW, IN 30 SECONDS?
To quote your job, I consult an industry-standard guide called the GVAA Rate Guide. It matters how and where your recorded file(s) will be used, so I do not have a flat fee per word or per minute. More below.
Every time I sit down to record, it’s a billable event. I charge $100/round for revisions/”pickups”, for any reason. Even tiny ones. Revisions are more time-consuming than you think (more below). You’ll find that other professional voice actors with sustainable careers have similar policies.
I provide a pretty good discount for scripts done in a batch (i.e., all in one sitting)! You always have the opportunity to direct me live, at no extra charge.
There’s no extra charge if you want to direct me live, while I record! It’s easy to set up, and takes an hour or less… more below)
You cannot use the spot forever. Your usage time is negotiated up front. A helpful explanation is below.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE MY PROJECT QUOTE?
Even though you own the copyright to your script, the voice actor owns their performance of your script. Part of your fee includes a license to use it in the world. As you can imagine, the more places you use a spot, the more you pay, and the longer you use it, the more you pay, etc.
I consult the industry-standard GVAA Rate Guide to determine your quote. It’s a complex document, as there are a lot of ways to use a voice actor’s performance. The guide takes into account usage type (what platforms), number of spots being produced (even if they’re “cutdowns” of the same script), airtime, and geographical locations covered.
CAN I JUST USE THE SPOT FOREVER (LIKE, DO A “FULL BUYOUT”)?
Licensing a spot as a “buyout” can prevent an actor from entering certain agreements in the future, due to competition issues. It would also be very expensive for you, because the way you use the spot (and for how long) matters in determining what you pay. So unfortunately, it’s not a simple buy-and-keep transaction. The smallest block of usage is typically 3 months. Here’s a cool thing: I offer one block free with the purchase of a 1-year license. So, say you want 1 year of usage (sometimes people call this a 1-year buyout) - you’ll pay 3x the 3-month block price, instead of 4x. And you get and even bigger discount for a 2-year buy. And so on. You can always come back after your license expires, to buy more time, if you need it.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR RECORDING?
I can record one of 5 ways (applies to both initial recording and revisions):
(Common) We schedule a LIVE, DIRECTED PHONE PATCH SESSION (No extra charge; no special software needed; I give you a call-in number and I record on my end);
(Common) I WORK ON MY OWN and deliver files to you (note that pickups/revisions after initial file delivery are always $100/round, no matter the recording method);
SOURCE CONNECT SESSION (You record; paid software required; no extra charge);
ISDN SESSION (You record; I schedule at a local studio; $100-200/studio hour applies);
I TRAVEL TO YOUR STUDIO (Travel fees may apply - I live in Los Angeles)
When your files are delivered from the session, your project is considered to be fulfilled. (See “WHAT IF I NEED A PICKUP/REVISION AFTER THE INITIAL RECORDING?” below)
WHAT IF I’M WORRIED ABOUT VIDEO TIMING ISSUES?
Consider booking a live session (no extra charge). Working to video is a clunky process for a voice actor. Best to indicate if you'd like pauses in certain places, knowing that your video editor can easily move around phrases to get just the right timing. A live session can help communicate this, but you can also mark up the script, or do both.
WHAT IF I’M NEW AT DIRECTING?
Your session will be scheduled for one hour. Many sessions take much less. I can guide you if needed. Painless!
WHAT IF I NEED A PICKUP/REVISION AFTER THE INITIAL RECORDING?
When your files are delivered from the session (whether I record on my own or with you in a live session), your project is considered to be fulfilled. After initial file delivery, a revision fee of $100 per round applies to any changes or modifications, whether they be to script or to performance (remember that there's no extra charge for a live session, which can be done over the phone in an hour or less!).
AGAIN: Even one-word revisions (some call these pickups) are still revisions. I assure that your revision is contextualized and matched for tone and volume. Please understand that this is a multi-step, often deceptively time-consuming process.
If any round of revision includes more than 50% of the script (or module/chapter), I'll need to negotiate a special fee, not to exceed 75% of the cost of a new read. Revisions/pickups must occur before airing/use. (I do not charge for obvious file issues or blatant reading mistakes on my part, of course).
Revision to a script that has already run (e.g., updated wording, updated wording for new targeting purposes) is considered an update and usually costs about 75% of the cost of a new spot.
Want to be a star client and help the revision process along? Please provide something that puts the revisions in context, e.g., an .mp3/video of the working spot and a revised copy of the whole script with changes clearly noted/highlighted.
ARE YOU A NICE PERSON?
I've been doing professional voice work, acting, and singing for many years. I make my living doing voiceover, and am adept at tuning to the life of a script and doing all the technical things required to deliver files quickly and professionally.
I've voiced for CBS, Google, Skype, Garmin, IBM, Kroger, McDonald's, independent films, animated characters, and many other projects, and had my original songs (under the names Stephanie Morgan and the Mercurists and stephaniesid) placed in Showtime's Nurse Jackie, and Sony Playstation's Until Dawn.
