Colloquial Latin American words, phrases and expressions
Gina has trained with Valerie Smaldone and received voice over instruction at the School of Visual Arts. She has worked with Valerie to record a Spanish translation project for Archcare. Gina is the voice of Tina, the compassionate Spanish language avatar nurse for Kognito, recorded at Sonic Union studios. And she is the upbeat and positive Spanish language voice for public service announcements produced by psa3.
In addition to her voice over work, Gina is a museum photographer, visual artist and independent curator who lives and works in New York City. She enthusiastically volunteers with Invisible Hands Deliver, putting her Spanish language skills to use at their call center.
Gina graduated from New York University with an MA in cultural anthropology and documentary media. She worked as a film archivist and later as a museum photographer at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African Art and the National Museum of the American Indian. She has also worked on photography projects at Chashama, the Museum of Biblical Art, the Asia Society, the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum and Garden and the New-York Historical Society.
Gina is bilingual in English and Spanish. Born in the U.S. to Latin American parents, she is a Native speaker of both languages. On holidays and summer vacations, Gina spent her childhood traveling extensively throughout Central and South America to visit family and friends. She remembers doing homework on long flights and reading Mafalda and Condorito comic books and other graphic novels her father would buy to slyly hone her language skills.
