Adam Rayes

I am an award winning audio journalist. Over my 5+ year career, I have worked for NPR affiliates in three states (MI, CO & IN) and have had my voice heard on national syndicated shows (NPR Newscast, APM's Marketplace, WNYC's The Takeaway).
I report, write, voice and produce almost all of my own work. I am familiar and have access to studio & field audio recording technology. Apart from my voice work as a professional journalist (described in bio), I also used to perform weekly, hour-long reads of newspapers for a Colorado service for blind and visually-impaired folks. I've had the pleasure of working with three voice coaches over my career to improve my narration work. I have done live and pre-recorded/edited reads.

Career aside, I'm a lifelong reader. I'm particularly drawn to sci-fi (favorite: The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu) and deeply researched historical non-fiction (favorite: In the Garden Of Beasts by Erik Larson). I'd love the opportunity learn about new pieces of literature and help share them with the world. I was told I had a voice for radio since I was young due to my naturally deep register. I'm always looking to improve my voicing by using it in new and interesting ways -- a big part of why I'm here now.

I was born and raised in southeast Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University in 2019. I love spending time on the Great Lakes, eating Syrian/Arabic food, and running Tabletop Role Playing Game (D&D, etc) campaigns.
