Andy Riley narrative Real Part three sick Alaska, the site of one of the most competitive, no holds barred fishing arenas in the world. It's hair in season, which for fishermen is a fast and furious scramble to catch as many fish is, they can, within a few short days. One family, the Andersons. We'll try their luck and put their years livelihood on the line, risking their boat, their safety and their sanity going for broke. Every spring, vast schools of herring swim into a few Alaska bays on their way to lay eggs. The herring, eggs or roe are considered a fine delicacy. In Japan, authorities strictly regulate herring populations. So the Andersons air, one of only 50 boats licensed to fish here, and they're only allowed to fish during short windows of time called openers. They never know when the fishing game are going to decide that enough herring have been caught and the season is over. So every time someone sets their net, it could be their last chance to make money. Dean Anderson has a reputation for being an extremely Briggs and fishermen, but nearly every year he puts his money where his mouth is and out fishes.
