Ann Marie Shea

With many years of performing experience, I am flexible and take direction. Well educated and widely read, I love words and the many layers of meaning that can be drawn out of them. I have studied French and Spanish, and although my fluency is limited, I can read a script in those languages. My vocal training includes Kristen Linklater, Tina Packer, Catherine FitzMaurice, and the legendary Jospehine Callan, who coached me years ago in the techniques of choral speaking for Greek theatre. More recently ,.I have studied VO with Dorothy Gallagher and Brian McKeever. Dramatic roles that I have played on stage include Shakespeare, challenging one's skill in projection, articulation, and interpretation. I have mastered the Yankee/Brahmin accent for the role of Fannie in "Painting Churches,." as well as for my one-woman show, "Madame Secretary, Frances Perkins." My Irish dialects were used in the roles of Cass ("The Loves of Cass McGuire") and Mrs. Killbride ("By the Bog of Cats"). My brief one-line role in "Olive Kittredge" was pure "down East" Maine. Most recent film work includes playing the wife of Martin Landau in "Abe and Phil's Last Poker Game."
