I loved being a cook for 35 years, but I had to retire because of my knee. A lot of us had the same issue. There was always talk in the barbershop about our knee pain, but no talk of going to see a doctor. It's a matter of trust. I feel like they don't really understand me. My Barra's nephew came into the shop, he was home from medical school. He overheard us chatting and showed me his medical textbook with images that looked like me. It made me feel I could trust him. So I made an appointment. Turns out I could trust doctors. I just had to feel seen first.
