There used to be two schools I thought for how the world would end. Old school stated that the world would end with a bang, probably driven by war mongering fears and the threat of nuclear proliferation hanging over everyone's heads. A slightly newer school of thought state of the world would end with a whisper. That's one more than likely came about through technological organization and the worry about things like the singularity. We were wrong though, horribly wrong. The world didn't end with a bang or a whisper but with silence, soul crushing, haunting silence, a silence so great and pervasive that it reached into your core and dredged up ancestral fears.
