There were a dozen of us living together under one recycled roof. The other 11 eggs weren't on their best behavior. They weren't exactly good. They ignored their bedtime. They ate only sugary cereal. They threw tantrums. They cried for no reason. They broke their stuff on purpose. Meanwhile, I tried to take charge. I tried to fix their bad behavior. So I painted purple splotches and added some green until I had a bunch of beautiful violets while I painted. I thought about Tanisha. Should I have handed her my napkin? Let her borrow my shirt, spill my juice that everyone stared at me instead. What does it mean to be kind anyway?
