When you get discouraged, I want you to consider this fellow. He dropped out of grade school. He ran a country store and we were broke. You were taken 15 years to pay off his bills. He would make a two time losing effort to run for the House of Representatives. He would do the same thing for the Senate. He was an unhappy marriage. Later in life, he would deliver a speech, and we now call that speech a classic. Although at the time the audience was very indifferent. However, despite all of this, imagine this truth that people all around the world to this very day have been inspired. But what some would call an awkward, rumpled, even brooding man, he would sign his name Hey, Lincoln, and he would be our 16th present.
