There are two main parties in the american political system, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. While both political parties want what's best for the public at large, their fundamental philosophy about how to choose the methods that will create a stronger nation can be polar opposites. In recent years, the degree of partisan hostility between the two parties has been pronounced. This hostility has been present long enough that even the language used to frame debate has been shifted in many political discussions. The speaker or location is identified as red or blue, Republican or democrat before any discussion about the merits of a policy. This isn't the first time in our history that parties have been so hostile, though. Mhm.
