thank you everyone for tuning in today. We like to call this hashtag I love you. This is the show where we talk about something that's controversial and we find a reason to love it. Today, we're gonna be talking about one of the most blockbuster trades the NFL has ever seen. Odell Beckham Jr has just been traded from the New York Giants to the Cleveland Browns. Now, before I dive into this trade, I'd like to say I am a lifelong New York Giants fan. I love the Giants, So why would I love this trade? Why would I love my best player, my favorite player on the team, getting traded away to the lowly Cleveland Browns? Well, that's what we're here to discuss, So let's dive into it, All right? What did the Giants get? The Giants got a first round pick this year. The Cleveland Browns number 17 overall pick. They also got the Cleveland Browns third round pick. That's pretty good, considering that Mr Big Chest got just got traded for 1/3 and fifth round pick. They also got safety Jabrill Peppers. Jabrill Peppers was drafted by the Cleveland Browns top 20 in the first round just two years ago. He's 23 years old. He was the Big 10 defensive player of the year in 2016. He's a beast. He's a return specialist. He's young, he's cheap. He's a great player for a team that is obviously in full rebuild mode. The Giants managed to land a big fish with this trait. You'd like to think the Browns landed a big fish, too, but let's dive into the Odell Beckham side of it. Beckham seems like a great player on paper. He's going to sell a lot of tickets in a lot of jersey, so they're going to make some money. Sure and yes, if you take away 2017 where he was injured, he's averaged almost 100 catches in over 1000 yards every season. That's big time numbers, but he was injured in 2017 and missed almost the entire year. He was injured his rookie year. He's had some injury problems. He's also had well documented on and off the field issues as well as locker room issues. That's a lot of headache for a guy who's gonna be turning 27 with a big contract making $20 million next year. So the Browns air getting a star wide receiver to go along with their young rookie quarterback, Baker. Mayfield could be, AH, first first year pro quarterback with high numbers next year. Let's see, let's see what happens. A lot of quarterbacks their second year fall off and don't do as well, but he's got a big chip on his tiny little shoulders. The Browns have a lot to prove, so they land their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. And he's gonna be able to do a lot for them. He's gonna open up the field. He's going to give some passing lanes, two other receivers to be open. He's going to draw some double teams. He's gonna help the running game get going. But let's go back to the things I just mentioned. He's gonna be 27 years old. He's gonna make $20 million. That's almost a Muchas Eli Manning makes. He's been injured recently, and often He's five foot 11 220 soaking wet. Sure, he's electrifying and a great receiver when he's on the field, but he's got a lot of drama that goes along with him. He's not very professional. He's not very mature. I don't think will ever be very mature. And he might not be healthy if he stays healthy and he matures and he leads that locker room. The Browns got a **** of a trade. They got a really good player. That's gonna help them. But we're not talking about what the Browns got. We're talking about what the Giants got, because everyone, every single person who's the New York Giants fan is gonna hate this trade, and they should. Nobody likes to see their star player get traded away. The Lakers don't want to see LeBron traded, although I've heard those rumors floated. The Knicks didn't even like to see poor Zynga's traded, and they suck. No one likes to see their best player get traded away. But it just happened. So why do I love this trait? The Giants are getting essentially two first round picks. They get their first round pick this year from the Browns 17th overall. They get the Browns first round pick from a couple years ago, Jabrill Peppers, who's 23 years old, cheap and really good. He's gonna help in special teams he's gonna help the defense. They just They just let Landon Collins there starting Pro Bowl Safety go. So they had to replace him, did that? They're going to save a butt load of money because they're not gonna pay Odell. And no team in rebuild mode is gonna need a diva wide receiver telling the locker room what to dio? No coach is gonna want that either. Especially not when you're in rebuild note and you know they got 1/3 round pick. Also, a lot of good players come out in the third round. Dak Prescott was fourth round. Tom Brady was sixth round, so they got a lot of draft compensation. And what do you do with draft compensation? When you're in rebuild mode and you've got an aging quarterback, you're looking to draft a quarterback for the future. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants take the two first round picks they have and turn it into either Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins. They must really love one of those guys this year because there's not a lot of quarterbacks in this draft toe love. But one of those two guys must spike their attention because they're going to go after him. Now that they have two first round picks, they're gonna go after one of them. Maybe they get lucky. And Kyler Murray doesn't go first overall to the Cardinals. Maybe he slips a little bit. 10th 12th and the Giants grab him there. Maybe they're waiting for Dwayne Haskins. Maybe they trade up for one of those guys with one of their extra first round picks and one of their extra third round picks. Maybe they maybe they throw in a first round pick next year. Who knows? They might even just be play and everybody. And they're gonna go after Nick Bosa and go the defense of route, which is what won them the Super Bowl against the undefeated Patriots the first time who knows it all remains to be seen. What? The Giants air planning. We know what the Browns are planning their planning to win now. And they got a really, really quality young wide receiver, not young enough in my mind, not quality enough in my mind. He's got his problems, but he also has his production. The Giants got a lot of capital for a team rebuilding, and they've made it clear that they're going to do everything they can to find the answer to replace Eli Manning, fix that offensive line and move forward. So I don't like losing my star wide receiver. I don't like losing my best player, but I love this trade because of everything that they got. Antonio Brown was just traded for 1/3 and fifth round pick a couple of days ago. Amari Cooper was traded last year for a first round pick, and the Giants today just traded Odell Beckham Jr for essentially two first round picks in 1/3 round pick. That's one **** of a deal, so I don't like losing my best player. But I love this trade and I love my New York Giants. This has been hashtag I love you, Thank you.
