during earnings season every quarter, analysts need to prepare their models for newly released earnings data. This typically consists of running through a series of steps starting from the prior quarters Excel Spreadsheet. Some steps include rolling forward formulas and Constance from the prior quarter, highlighting hard coded values in the upcoming quarter for new data, updating consensus estimates and adjusting formatting on numbers and dates to reflect actuals. This tedious but necessary process can take up to 15 minutes per model to prepare, taking a precious time during a busy earning season, which could otherwise be spent talking to clients or writing incremental research with a U I. PATH robot. This process can now be automated with ease by any analyst using the business friendly Studio X automation tool to create the automation. Using simple dragon drop actions, the robot can easily be taught to edit Excel, files, extract or enter data into a system or email files. This robot was programmed to copy the analysts earnings model, then log into fax set to retrieve the latest data and update the earnings model. Let's see it in action. To start the automation, we used the agent desktop interface access via the tray. This interface presents us with the list of processes we have created and allows us to run when needed, or set a schedule to remind us. Robot has now started and will perform all the steps automatically, starting with securely logging into fax set to scrape the updated consensus estimates data. Now the robot has opened the copy of last quarter's earnings model and begins the preparation for the current quarter. The robot is now updating the FactSet consensus revenue and GPS numbers that were scraped from the website. Next, the robot will continue to update the drivers balance sheet and cash flow statement in a similar fashion. Even analysts who've mastered Excel shortcuts and hot keys can't keep up with the pace of a robot, saving valuable time during earning season, which can instead be spent on high value tasks such as working with clients. Lastly, the robot will update the actuals versus estimates by rolling forward to the current quarter and maintaining the estimates made from last quarter. The automation has completed and we can view the prepared model that the robot has saved to a designated folder. With you, I path automation. The model prep time is shortened from approximately 15 minutes toe 1 to 2 minutes, freeing your analysts from these menial tasks and allowing them to do what they do best. Thank you for watching.
