Because light shine the brightest in darkness. Jesus says we're to be light shining brightly on a hill. I love a good story. Think about it from the time you and I were Children. We love a good story. Stories have the ability to draw us in stories. A relatable. We have experiences that each of us have had that are similar to one another. But why do we love story so much? Because we're all connected to the greatest story of all time. The Story of Christ Redemption. Every story steals from this story the story of the fall of man in the redemption that has brought from the cross. It's this story of love fought for the enemy, being vanquished. We love a reckless pursuit, no matter the peril. And this is what Christ did for us. He fought for us, came down in our muck and messiness to redeem us and rescue us from the clutches of sin and death. Hey, Dad, I think God is gonna heal me. As his father and as a pastor, I so wanted to believe the words my son was saying. But if I'm honest, I couldn't driving home with the news that our nine year old son was going to be facing brain surgery due to a mass inside his brain. My wife and I were scared and numb.
