Mainframe applications, the heart of many organizations, are often written in and maintained in COBOL. In fact, research from Vance and Born found over 800 billion lines of code still in use today, with 92% stating that their COBOL applications are strategic, but many have found that their mainframe applications no longer meet their current business needs. They are looking for ways to increase flexibility and implement changes more quickly.
