Crossing the Vaal (South African accents)

Description

Written by Archie Vincent, in this scene,Theo, the English sugar plantation owner meets Louis Botha (later to become the first Prime Minster of South Africa) and Andries, one of his generals. When the Anglo-Boer war breaks out, the description of the concentration camps set up by the English is contrasted with the beauty of the landscape. Theo (also a reserve Captain in the Cape Army under Cecil Rhodes) and Lizzie, engaged to Louis, find love amidst the conflict.
