Description

This sample is from a memoir I narrated. It's about a woman's loss of her children in a tragic car accident. She turned to alcohol and drugs for comfort, but upon hitting rock bottom, it was her faith in God that led to her recovery and new life.

I was admitted to methodist hospital, located on colorado boulevard in Dallas Mike was allowed to be with me until they took me to the delivery room after 11 hours of painful labor, most of which I do not remember because my doctor had given me a mixture of Demerol and scopolamine. We had a beautiful perfect baby girl. She entered this world at 10:20 a.m. She weighed £6.13 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. We named her Michelle Darlene. When they put her in my arms I cried, I felt so much love and a deep sense of fear all at the same time she was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen mike and I took her blanket off and counted her tiny fingers and toes, 10 of the cutest toes and 10 tiny fingers. She was truly perfect in every way. I thanked God over and over, even though she was healthy, that feeling of fear took away my breath. I did not want anything to harm her or take her away from me. I prayed that I would be a good mother and raised her to be better than me. I told God she would be taught his word as only God would have it. Michele's pediatrician dr Russell was also my pediatrician When I was a child, he gave me instructions on how to nurse her about raising one end of her crib A level to prevent SIDS. This scared the living daylights out of me because one of my friends had lost her baby to SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome. I was breastfeeding. So no formula was needed or prescribed. Funny back then we remember giving Michelle and her siblings rice cereal mixed with my milk after they were one month old. As time went on, pediatricians and new parents would learn that babies really did not need any solid foods. During the first few months, doctors found that their little digestive systems needed time to develop sadly sudden infant death or SIDS would continue to claim many precious lives until it was discovered that infants should be placed on their backs to sleep. I thank God that no one else I knew would ever lose a newborn to Sid's Dr Russell gave our baby a high Apcar score. So we were released after three days. On the way home from the hospital, my mother stopped the car behind Sunset High School. It was a friday and we told our friends that we would let them see Michelle on our way home there they were all gathered at the back fence along with dear old Mr Phil go to meet our new baby girl. God is so good
