But the number one hazard we're concerned about is one you can't even see space radiation. And when we're talking about deep space travel to the moon and someday mars, the risk is even greater. So what are we doing to protect crews from radiation? We're developing significant protective shielding for spacecrafts, equipment for measuring astronauts exposure and alerts for things like solar flares that can create dangerous levels of radiation.
