Welcome to the Dogwood Invitational at Druid Hills Golf Club. Wear pleased to extend this invitation. Requesting your participation in this event brings together an elite field of amateur golfers from around the world to compete on one of the most historic venues in Atlanta. Our story evokes a certain feeling, a timeless spirit where past and present blend seamlessly together. This is more than a golf dogwood begins with Druid Hills Golf Club. Established in 1912 Drew it quickly became a fixture in Atlanta's rich golf history. The club held the men's and women's Atlanta City championships in 1914 and the following year. Bobby Jones won the club championship, setting a course record 73. Turn the page a few years to 1941 when Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson battled each other around the links in a legendary exhibition match. Hogan versus Nelson Match set the stage for the first ever Dogwood Invitational, which was played later that year and was won by Tommy Barnes. His first of five Dogwood titles in 1994. Modern Dogwood launched with an exhibition match where Georgia Tech Stewart Cink was a three and two win over Stanford University's Tiger Woods. Our prestigious list of past players and champions are a testament to what the event represents in modern times. Dogwood is an event where past legends are joined by the stars of Today. Hudson, Swofford, Webb Simpson, Brian Horn, Andrew Young, Ben Coles and Michael Johnson are just a few champions who battled the lights of dust and Johns Lucas Glover, Chris Kirk deigning Lea Richie will rent Brooks kept and many others, all of whom share in our skin, read history. The dogwood is a combination of many things past legends and current stars, a timeless course in a cool city. But perhaps the best feature of our story is the people that join us every year. Our members, our staff, our sponsors and, of course, you the plate. In a story that is continually unfold, each invitation is an opportunity to write the next chapter.
