About Sandy Wood

Over 30 years experience as a voice-over artist, narrator, classic announcer.
I am thought of as sounding smooth, intelligent, trust-worthy, sophisticated but can also create voices that are playful and full of character.

I have been the voice of Star Date radio since 1991, an astronomy program produced by the University of Texas McDonald Observatory. My current passion is collaborating with poets, musicians, painters, photographers, sculptors and other art makers for my YouTube channel - Sandy Wood & Other Voices. (Website hidden)
And I enjoy my role as creator and writer/producer for The Road Sage, a safe driving concept (Website hidden). On the horizon is my project Aunt Granny's Bookshelf, audio content for children.

Voice Over Testimonials

Having Sandy as the voice of Star Date radio has produced numerous benefits for McDonald Observatory's resource development efforts. I regularly meet people from all over the country who first heard of the Observatory and who developed their love of the stars through Sandy's engaging narration.

Joel Barna - Development Manager U of Texas McDonald Observatory

There are no words to describe the joy that it is to work with Sandy Wood. Her voice is beautiful and records so well that she makes my job easy. She is without a doubt my favorite voice talent?

Shayna Levin Brown - Chez Boom Audio

I hired Sandy for her excellent reputation and skills as a voice talent for The Meade MySky. Sandy's many years narrating Star Date has made her an icon in the astronomical community. Sandy is easy to work with and very professional. She managed the production of the voice overs and produced a high quality recording. She is well versed in scientific subjects and pronunciations. If it weren't for Sandy most amateur astronomers wouldn't know how to pronounce constellation and star names properly. I highly recommend Sandy as a voice talent of exceptional ability. I would not hesitate to hire her again.

Andrew Corkill - Director Global Product Management at Targus
