During her biggest project to date, "The Vision" by Sunanda J. Chatterjee, a very important cultural insight was taken from a 1950's Bollywood movie. This line was in Hindi. After working with the publisher and extensive research, Mary Ann sang this line so that listeners could experience the importance of this cultural concept as authentically as possible. She is willing to go the "extra mile."
Mary Ann is technically a "dual-citizen," being both British and American. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, her home was filled with many different dialects. Her mother's family was from Ohio and spoke "so fast" she could barely understand them when they visited compared to the lilting, Texas drawl. She and her Dad would have playful arguments about whether that red "vegetable" was a Tomato (long "a") or with the British short "a" "tom-ah-to" accent - or who was really speaking "English." Later on, Mary Ann moved to Ohio and quickly adapted the mid-Western dialect just to "blend in." All these influences have helped Mary Ann have a keen ear and tongue for dialects and accents.
