thank you for having me. Even joe's yep, ladies Executive Golf society 100% right. Um so I moved to Jacksonville florida, home of the players championship and I was kind of naive, I played golf in high school, but I'd always wanted to be a caddy, but there aren't very many nice courses in Wyoming where you can caddy and here I'm 27 years old and trying to find a job moving here and I look and there's a job as a caddie at TPC, so I'm like, well I probably won't get it, I want like a career job, ended up getting the caddy job, so I can see the TPC at in 2017, weirdly enough was the first female caddie ever there. And so so you know everybody, you know super supportive there and they're like, you go girl, they luckily didn't give me too many devil bag days. Um but but eventually, yeah, I met my boss and he's like, you love golf. Um come down to south florida, I want you to meet rich Rogers, he has this thing called six degrees where it's networking on the golf course, but only specific industries, so if you, one insurance person, one marketing person, one web design person, I went down there, experienced it and I came back and I just felt like there's such a need for women, Every woman I talked to, they say, oh I really want to learn how to golf and I'm like, well you don't want to learn how to golf from your boyfriend, your significant other or your husband because you're not gonna like it and you're not gonna like each other afterwards. And I'm like there's an um there's no entry point. You know like it's not like I I never go practice putting on my own. But if you can provide this platform that is non judgmental. So the women that have the fear and intimidation of getting on the golf course feel comfortable um that we're empowerment based first. You know like our number one mission, I was tired of calling all these C. E. O. S. Of these large companies and none of them were women. So I'm like what can we do to get more women in those leadership roles and how can we get them out of the office and saying yes to these charity golf tournaments. So um I Oh yeah well like how can we change this leadership gap? And one of the things is just the social capital on the golf course. Men have golfing, hunting, fishing. I'm like what do women have? That creates that bond. Like I'm not going to go get my nails done with you know prospect. So I think you know burn a brown. Yeah. And it's all so like you you've experienced golf has this vulnerability factor where you step up to the first tee whether you're a ceo or a janitor and you're all hitting that same hole together And you could mm hmm. You could bomb it. Or you could tough it But a lot of these women don't give themselves the opportunity to surprise themselves. You know, like you may say you suck at golf. And all women say that I'm so tired of that. Like you're probably better than you think you at least will have moments. You surprise yourself and think it's amazing. No, no, I I know like I loved caddying for women because there's always down the fairway, not like out in the woods and you're looking for a ball. He was like, oh my God, long long enough. Yeah, we got it all here. Um, So yeah, we're coming up on our four year anniversary. So thanks for having me on. But it it literally started with a sticker and a flyer and I said, okay, I gotta do this this year. So I'm like, all right. We just had the players championship. So started in May and you know, luckily Covid was a great thing for golf and and Oh yeah. Well, I think it's like the culture and expectations of what golf is, doesn't have to be, you know, stiff and exclusive and like all about the rules and be quiet. You know, it's like we encourage bringing like speakers and wine sippy cups and just like, like we wanted to be like a party on the course where we block it off. So they're not worried about guys behind them rushing them. They're not worried about anybody looking around them. It's like everybody is playing best ball. So it's a team effort and women are just different than men. Men are like competitive and their ship where women are encouraging whether they like our collegiate golfers and they're playing with somebody that has never touched a club because we've all started somewhere and that's the thing, It's like you can't just expect you're going to go out and be no everything, but if you keep going out, you're going to progressively get better. Yeah, totally. Right, nobody does. Mhm I know. I Yeah. Oh, right. Oh. Oh, you, me too. I mean, I've been golfing since, you know, 9th grade um and every single time I hit the first tee box, I get nervous, you know? But Oh yeah. Oh my God. Well for me, I'm like an adrenaline junkie, you know, I'm like, I love skiing and mountain biking and then when I moved to florida, there wasn't much skiing and mountain biking. So, so there's golf, but golf can be an adrenaline sport where you don't know, like you can hit, it was like, oh my gosh, Oh my God. Oh yes or no, or if you go the other way too. Yeah, we have totally similar visions. So we started in Jacksonville and last year was the first year we rolled out a founding membership and now we have 250 members, we're about to roll out a male ambassador program because if we really want the goal of empowering women, we need our males to support us and be behind us and we've expanded to Boca Melbourne, Tampa Daytona Miami, we're about to go out to Salt lake, out west the goals to be in all 50 states in five years and we got to make these girls look good too. We got to build their confidence from the outside in Mhm Yeah, yeah, what you got it? Mhm Oh yeah, well we can, we can beta test all the legs ladies can, can, can try it on and tell you what they think because yeah, I think you ask any woman there like golf clothes are terrible. Yeah. Yes and for the record guys we have curves so you can't put us in a box and expect feel good in that we're coming for you, we're coming for you. Yeah, yeah, but they sound good together. Yes, Yeah. Oh yeah, well and and for the record, you know um when we expand usually it's because a woman reaches out and says is our legs chapter here and I say not yet, but but the president of the regional legs, they don't have to be really good at golf. All they have to be is the type of person that makes everybody feel welcome because the last thing I want is for women that are already feeling fear of embarrassment or intimidation to come and not feel welcome so I want to be mutually beneficial for them. For me it was a business development play. I wanted to be able to reach out to the women I wanted to get in front of and invite them to this cool event and then have the opportunity to get to know them and then eventually talk about whatever issues are in their business if I can't help them. Hopefully there's another legs lady there that can help solve their problems. Oh no, no it was a lot of bottles or glasses of wine, you know that's how you get the creative juices flowing. What? Mhm. Right, so you can look us up. Ladies Executive golf society on linkedin instagram. We, because ladies Executive golf society is very long the type, we shortened it so they can just go to legs dot golf. They want to come to our website, find out more about our mission and vision and our events. Um so a lot of so much that is coming up now and stay tuned. Uh I'll come to Detroit. We can do it in person. Yes, yeah, you too. This is just the beginning of good things ahead. It's a movie. We are starting in the south and the north all across the world. Ah well thank you. Yeah and thank you steven joe's for connecting us. Yeah, I love it. Oh thanks. Daisy
