what is it about? Greg Fitzsimmons performance at the Just for laughs comedy festival in 2007, arguably one of the most un ideal performances, not just in the history of Just for laughs comedy festival, but also one of the most abysmal sets in Greg's career. Greg starts off by jogging to the mic only to give up halfway and proceeds to speak incoherent gibberish known as french dressed like keith Morris on easter. The comedian starts off his set not with a joke but to throw away kudos of ask kissing to management and staff appearing uncomfortable. Almost immediately after his first joke about Starbucks gift cards, Greg proceeds to significantly ramp up the personal and somewhat humorous details of his family life with subjects like alcoholism, child abuse and ******** totally up for grabs in the world of stand up comedy. The televised Canadian audience doesn't come off as particularly amused the question on everybody's mind, what kind of pornography does Greg and Joy was thankfully answered what used to be a desire for nothing more than an instant money shot was now replaced by a desire for plot driven story and dialogue followed by differences between men and women's sexuality and conceiving his two Children. Well, in the middle of a very personal bit about his own life, Greg suddenly stops before finishing the Joke due to a realization, Greg has been on stage for nearly five minutes talking to a silent audience that is staring back at him. Greg drops a nuclear bomb in the middle of his own televised set to claim verbatim. This is the worst ******* set I've ever had in my life, I'd say in about 10 years. I hate to break up the flow of my set, but this is really shifting the bed right now. He immediately attempts a bit about americans and the ignorant, self absorbed ways only to once again give up on finishing the bit to repeat. It ain't getting any better, is it this set? He then compares how badly his set is going to the comedians who went on before him. This is received by his literal first applause break in seven uncomfortable minutes only for Greg to point out that the applause wasn't even intended for him, but the other comedians that he just mentioned no longer interested by playing management's rules and doing a limited amount of designated air time. Greg looks offstage too, sir, to palm hat, body double Howie Mandel and says this, I'm gonna go longer. The first half was bad. The remainder of the set takes an aggressively unhinged and self deprecating route, such as hating strangers. Los Angeles, Vanity, Canadian men looking like and deal or no deal, which managed to get an actual response from an overly silent crowd. Greg attempts to close the set by once again repeating how this was his worst televised set in his 18 year career and how the editors are going to quote, have a long night ahead of them piecing this ship together. But then that's their job I'll be out drinking Greg's final contribution to this uncomfortable televised flop is an incredibly personal account of his occasional borderline un consensual spoon sex with his wife. The romantic moment is sometimes interrupted by their crying child. One time Greg's wife attempted to flee the bed to attend the crying child whilst the clint howard look alike physically held on and refused to let her leave until he finished. Greg's wife escaped his desperate attempt at romantic intimacy by punching him in what I can only assume where his discolored irish genitals. The story ends with Greg crying himself to sleep and his wife responding the following morning by farting on him after 15 sand papering minutes, Greg finally takes a bow and exits whilst an overly unenthusiastic Howie Mandel announces him offstage. What felt like a disastrous performance that went significantly over time, Greg, in his defense did finish the set all the way through and managed to get a few laughs out of the audience stand up, comedy, cruel mistress that she is. Can sometimes grant comedians unbelievable feelings of accomplishment and fulfillment whilst on the flip side can showcase moments that will make comedians reconsider every decision they've ever made
