Live Directed Sessions

WHAT IS A LIVE DIRECTED SESSION?

A live directed session takes place when a client and a talent in two different locations, connect with one another online to record audio. A live directed session allows the client and talent to remotely collaborate on the recording in real-time.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THE CLIENT NEEDS A LIVE DIRECTED SESSION?

The client will indicate if they require a live directed session when they're filling out the job posting form, and you'll see the information in your job invite emails as well as in the job list, in your filtering options, and in the detailed job posting view.

HOW DO I LET CLIENTS KNOW THAT I CAN PARTICIPATE IN A LIVE DIRECTED SESSION?

To indicate that you are able to participate in a live directed session and what technologies you are comfortable with, navigate to the edit profile page. Go to the Overview tab and you'll see a section called Live Directed Sessions. In this section indicate whether you offer Live Directed Sessions and the software you're able to use. This will give clients the information at a glance when they're looking at your profile.

HOW DO I RESPOND TO JOBS ASKING FOR A LIVE DIRECTED SESSION?

When you're responding to jobs that require a live directed session, you'll audition as you normally would. Your quote will need to include the voice over work and any licensing requirements and the the cost of providing a live directed session.

You can also update your response templates with an optional Live Directed Session policy. This is an open text field that you can use to specify logistics and any specific detail you think would be helpful for clients to know.

A standard quote might be for an hour-long session, but it depends on the word count of the project. We encourage you to finalize this with clients via messages once you’re hired for the job and agree on the specifics for the session and any extras the clients might need.

For the protection of both you and the client, it’s important to use the Voices messaging feature to communicate, and not to share other personal contact information.

WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE IN MY LIVE DIRECTED SESSION POLICY?

Let clients know what your process looks like when you conduct a live directed session, how long you typically run a session for (might depend on the type of work, i.e. audiobook vs. ad), and the types of software you’re comfortable using, as well as any availability information clients might find helpful.
