About Barbara

Warm, Reassuring Scottish Voice with Theatrical Depth
Barbara comes from Aberdeenshire and brings a gentle, bright, lilting Scottish accent with a warm, reassuring quality that immediately connects with listeners.
Trained as an actor in London in the late 1970s, she worked professionally for many years across the UK and Australia in theatre. Her career spans community theatre, regional repertory, national tours, and even the West End—where she played diverse roles such as the lead in ‘Supergran the Musical’, the Washerwoman and a host of Woodland Creatures in Bill Kenwright’s Wind in the Willows and the fierce Vengeance in the Crucible Theatre’s ‘A Tale of Two Cities’.
After taking time away from the stage to raise her family and later teach, Barbara returned to voiceover and has built an impressive client list. Past projects include Australian Broadcasting Corporation, British Rail, the Jorvik Viking Centre audio tour, Parsley Box and AXA Health Cancer Care commercials.
Her strong theatre background means she responds to direction quickly and effectively, bringing both craft and instinct to every project. From commercials to narration, eLearning to character voices, Barbara delivers authentic, polished performances that elevate every script.
