Let's talk about the string section in an orchestra in an orchestra. The string section is made up of violins, violas, cellos and bases. You may think that they all belong to the same family, but you'd only be partly right. Violins, violas and cellos all belong to the violin family, but base is also known as double bases belong to what is known as the vile family. The most striking difference is the shape of the top of the bases body. It's more sloped than the rest of the string instruments.
