Zack was the first to approach the crowd. He's always been the stoic one of the bunch, so I gave him a hug and cried like a baby. Then came hugs with Kim and Kyra, and impromptu speeches from Alison and Roger. Momentum was building. As we approach the 10 o'clock hour just before 10 a man who works for a ministry explained all of us how the process will work. There were 95 men being released that morning. They would all come out at once and walk in a single file line down the sidewalk, those of family waiting with peel off from the line, and those that didn't would continue on to the bus stop. All who wanted to join hands in a large circle while the man recited a prayer after the last amen. It was just about time. It was 9:45 a.m. Any minute now, Ed would be walking around the corner. Wealthy arise if they would arrange them alphabetically, placing it in the front of the line. Either way, we agreed the sun reflecting off of a six foot seven bald head would certainly serve as a great beacon
