Welcome to another rehab moment. We're with Ben Hayes. He's a doctor of physical therapy, and we're going over Some of the most asked questions that, uh, I received as a personal trainer and ah, fitness professional. Ben. At what point do you suggest someone to go get medical attention? Yeah, So we've all been to this point where we have pulled a muscle or have rolled an ankle and are wondering, Still need to get this looked at. Can I fight through this? Am I okay? Um, and it really comes down. Thio Ah, couple of and things that I'll get into. But also, you know, how much is it? Limiting your quality of life? If you're feeling that some injuries significantly impacting that, then go ahead and get medical attention. Um, whether that be a medical doctor or a physical therapist or a chiropractor, whatever them it may look like. What I tell people is a little bit of some discomfort. Is is okay, right? Anything along that 0 to 3 out of 10. You know, you're being no pain. 10 being hospital pain scale. 0 to 3 is okay. There's a 0 to 3 is something that we can push through that we can live with to some extent, um, and and not have to rush to see a doctor anything higher than that that lingers for a longer period of time, so that if you have, you know, six out of 10 pain all day long, then I would go and see some medical attention. Um, if if your pain is getting worse, right so that four out of 10 pain is now becoming a seven out of 10 pain or is becoming more frequent. So it's It's now happening every half an hour. Every time I stand up, I have pain or that increase in pain. Then I would recommend going to see a medical professional. Um, don't don't be the macho macho man. Don't be the guy or the girl who pushes through everything and ah says I'm fine. I'll do it later. I'll do it later. Take care of our bodies because I see so often the people who have kind of fought through those injuries. Ah, come back to see me five years down the road saying, Oh yeah, I first entered myself in 2012 and have been kind of self treating it, you know, for the last five years, right? So five years is too long for pain. Ah, anything over ah week a couple two weeks is something that is You might want to come in at least get looked at by a medical professional. That's OK. If it's just a quick screen, that's okay. If it's Hey, I've been going through this. What are your recommendations? Ah, I know. Me and my staff are happy. Thio, answer those questions for you to see. Do I need to come in for a full evaluation or can we, uh, can you just give me a couple little tips to kind of get through my day? Um, but if it is something that is getting worse, more severe, more frequent, um, or affecting different areas than I would suggest going to see a medical professional then thank you very much if you have questions about pain or injuries or that you're living with And you have you been putting off getting taken care of Bennett? People wanted to contact you. How would they do that? Yes, To me personally, you can reach me at BP Hayes. That's B p H. A y e s at nova care dot com n o v a c a r e dot com Or you can reach anyone from me and my staff at i m f at nova care dot com. Um, again, we are happy to come and have you guys do what we call a complimentary injury screen. Um, so come in. And this little 15 minute, 10 15 minute thing that we can get just gonna chat through any dysfunction that you might have, um, and then see if you need to come and schedule a full evaluation or if we could kind of give you some tips to go and move forward. And, uh, if you have questions for me, Dave Bliss, you can contact me at deal I s s at i m f dot org. And remember, don't make long term pain a part of your daily lifestyle. Take care of yourself, get rid of try and work with and alleviate any pain that you have. There are no prizes for living in pain. Thank you very much.
