For as long as I can remember, the ballet studio has been a quiet and safe place for me. Even at the tender age of five, I can recall having this sense of calm between those four walls. Every day. I felt like this huge rush of energy came over me. It was so intense. I could hardly ignore it. All the dancers just seemed to exude confidence in their art form and not in their words but in their actions along so badly to one day become part of this world before I knew it. Ballet occupied most of my thoughts. There was no room left for anything else. It would take every ounce of me just to get through another day, day in and day out comforting routines and rhythms somehow making sense of the longings inside me. Longing to be part of a family, longing to be good enough to be on stage. Yeah.
