These are really powerful questions. While there is never just one solution, educators have found that both culture and student outcomes improved when we get creative and research backs them up, showing clear links between art integration and student academic results, teacher engagement and retention, and school wide climate and culture improvements. Students learn through art and with art, and it's no secret how this happens. First, art integration engages Children more profoundly in their learning hands on art experiences build relevance on interesting cross curricular content and teachers. You student made art to see what students are thinking. Second, art builds connexions with families, your community and the wider world. The arts helped make schools a welcoming place where families want to participate and they build bridges across cultures in their community and globally. They help students understand the world what is unique and universal among global citizens, and finally, art infused education supports the development of the 21st century skills known as the four C's students learn to think creatively, embracing curiosity and trying new, innovative ideas. They home their critical thinking skills, challenging their thinking, analysing choices and making curricular connexions. They develop stronger communication skills, learning to compose and convey their thoughts visually, verbally and in writing. And they learn to work together towards common goals in a creative, collaborative culture.
