Jim is a true professional whose work on my audiobook was absolutely first class. He responded quickly to inquiry after I selected his audition, and remained in communication until completion. My work is a deeply personal memoir that Jim brought to life through his authentic voice and understanding of audience preferences in storytelling. He used theatrical emphasis when needed, he paused for effect and he leaned into phrases that were most important.

When Jim agreed to take on the project, he asked for the manuscript and read my work before he recorded. This investment in time clearly increased his sense of my writing and I believe vastly improved the result. I’m not sure every hired narrator would take the time to prepare and to absorb the information before hitting record. During the time he was working and editing, Jim emailed with updates and we developed a professional rapport that really distinguishes him as a five star partner and someone I trusted deeply with the content. If you think about it, the audiobook market is growing quickly and the narrator is likely the voice that the audience will hear most. I have every confidence he represented my work and message with authenticity, technical competence and with a commitment that I truly admire.

This was my first book and if there is a next one, I will ask Jim McFarlane to again join me in that journey. Like me, he is a Veteran and his values clearly shine in his work.
