I had a very tough character voice assignment to fill one that I knew would be scrutinized. The reason for that is the character was based on a real person a literary giant the nobel prize winning author, Pearl Buck. A person could easily go back into the archives and hear exactly what she sounded like. Not as easy to do when I do a film on, Abraham Lincoln. Even though he is an historical giant no one alive today knows what he sounded like. In this film the voice artist had to sound like Pearl but also convey a range of emotions and the correct "age" for the particular passage. The reads in the film ranged from age 8 to 80. More that 20 people auditioned and I just thank my lucky stars that Kenwyn was one of them. She was far superior in her demo read and followed my instructions and links to listen to what Pearl Buck actually sounded like. In her performance Kenwyn "became" Pearl Buck. She was a true professional and a joy to work with. She is a true 5-star talent and one you would be very fortunate to hire. Rob Child, Director - Pearl Buck: A Life, A Legacy.
