as the world was engulfed in the flames of world war, two countless individuals answered the call of duty. among them were the women's royal naval service, better known as the wrens. in a time when traditional roles were being rewritten, these women stepped forward with courage and determination to make their mark on history. in certain united kingdom ports, girls like these have taken over the job of ferry from quayside to ships at their anchorage. the story of the wrens began in 1939 when world war two erupted across europe with the royal navy stretched thin. the need for skilled personnel was paramount women from all walks of life volunteered and they were assigned roles across a wide range of naval duties. from clerks to telegraphers, from radar operators to code breakers. they played crucial roles that helped secure allied victory.
