in this module, we are tackling one of the most mysterious branches of computer science. quantum computing, quantum computing is a cutting edge field of technology that harnesses the peculiar principles of quantum mechanics to perform incredibly complex computations. unlike classical computers that use bits to represent information as either a zero or a one quantum computers use quantum bits or qubits which can exist in multiple states simultaneously. thanks to a property called superposition. imagine a classical computer as a series of switches that can be either on or off representing zeros and ones. in contrast, a quantum computer can be thought of as a set of quantum switches that can be in a superposition of both on and off states simultaneously. this means that cubits can represent and process multiple possibilities at once leading to a massive increase in computational power.
