Taking a look at news Columbus Police Department is warning the public of a scam where people are calling and asking for donations for the annual Shop with Account program. Lieutenant Jo Richardson says the Fraternal Order of Police is not soliciting by phone. You know, the real unfortunate part about this is so many people who will make that donation will have found themselves donating to the thief, and it will just cheat the Children out of it. You know, they will assume they've already made a legitimate donation or when they find out that it was a legitimate. They've already given up their funds that they would typically give to good causes in thes thes air, not just taken from them, but they're also taking from the Children, Richardson said. Donations can be made to individual officers or at the station. Police in Center Grove are searching for suspects after a total of nine vehicles were broken into late night Wednesday in early Thursday. The break ins happened in the Highland Park and Will Lakes area, with all within a mile of each other. Police say no arrests have been made at this point, and about 40 Franklin colleges, clubs, students air trying to make a difference on their campus with projects aimed to reduce their carbon footprint. Faculty advisor to the club Tom Pat said students realized the importance of clean energy for the future, how we obtain energy and the cost of energy. That's gonna be a big deal. And I think they're excited about getting involved in educating others. How we can reduce energy usage, become more efficient, hopefully, save money in the process and make a difference in the environmental swell. One project that students are taking part in is involving taking dining hall, cooking oil, converting it to biodiesel and using it to power campus lawnmowers and tractors.
