On july 20th, the government of Cameroon signed an international agreement on the conservation of gorillas and their habitats. Just two days later on july 22nd, they issued a decree that will permit a long term logging project in epo forest. The project will destroy core gorilla habitat In direct breach of the agreement, Evo Forest holds an estimated 35 million tons of carbon that's equivalent to the emissions of over 7.5 million cars driven for an entire year. It is among the most biologically diverse areas in the Gulf of Guinea. It makes up half of a key biodiversity area, making it a site of global importance to the planets overall health and the persistence of biodiversity. Not only will this logging project destroy the entire habitat for this special population of gorillas. A second logging project awaiting approval would also level the western part of the forest, which is home to the only chimpanzees in the world that use tools to both crack nuts and fish for termites. Food sources will be destroyed for animals with special diets like the critically endangered produces red colobus monkey. It is also the ancestral home of local communities who still depend on the forest for food and traditional medicines. We cannot afford to lose able forest sign the petition now to urge the government of Cameroon to halt the logging of Evo Forest
