Women are often expected to bear the brunt of most domestic labor, such as household chores and child rearing. And yet, despite how crucial this work is to maintaining a well functioning society, women are systematically unpaid, unrecognized and underappreciated for it. In this essay, I share my journey of how I became aware of the stark gender disparities in the workforce and how I applied what I have learned in my graduate school career to my personal life.
