Hey, I'm Brianna and I'm one of the team leads here. I started here as a packer after high school a couple of years ago I wanted to make some extra cash around the holidays. So when I saw an ad for seasonal packers at the warehouse, I figured I'd give it a try and what do you know? I ended up really liking it after working for a while as a packer. I wanted to try other things too. So I got cross trained in different areas, picking stowing, receiving loading. I liked it all. But what really interested me was all the logistics behind everything, how the different areas have to work together. Things like how many people should be on the stowing team so they can keep up with the receiving team and the big picture decisions about staffing and procedures. Plus as I got to know the different jobs better and better people started coming to me for answers and advice to help solve their problems. My boss noticed my interest and also noticed my teammates were coming to me with questions and eventually he approached me about becoming a team lead. I jumped at the opportunity and I'm so happy I did as a team lead, I supervised the team's daily activities. We'll have a kickoff meeting at the top of the shift and I go over our goals for the day, what we have coming up that day and he changes to procedures, things like that. I try to keep them fun and build team spirit. So I also use them to acknowledge accomplishments on the job as a team lead. It's also important for me to meet with my manager and stay informed about big picture issues and plans with the warehouse so I can keep my team informed. I also deal with some staffing issues, especially if someone is sick or is a no show, I have to be a real problem solver. If for example something isn't where it's supposed to be, if something arrives damaged, if something gets broken or if someone gets hurt, they would come to me. I'm a real stickler for safety, so I keep an eye out for my team and make sure they're using proper procedures when lifting or using equipment and that we're keeping the place clean, so no one slips or trips and gets hurt. I hope that I can really grow with this company. My boss says I'll be a great candidate for management someday. He started out on the warehouse floor too. So I know it's possible. I started taking some classes at the local community college and now I'm working towards my degree while I work, it isn't a requirement, but I think it will help me achieve my goals. I love how different parts work together. So what I really want is to become a regional manager and oversees several facilities. My boss thinks I can do it to my hope well really my plan is to become assistant manager here than manager than assistant regional manager and then regional manager, I never would have imagined that a seasonal job could turn into a career, but it has.
