At Humber, we believe in contributing to a healthier tomorrow. In 2015, Humber college set in motion, the ambitious integrated energy master plan and the next phase has begun to forge a path towards a more sustainable future. We need to make the switch. The project will see 4.5 kilometers of piping connects student residences, buildings and infrastructure to a centralized hot water system. The current cooling system runs independently of the heating system with the extra heat created by the cooling system discarded outside. In comparison, buildings that need heat, rely on burning fossil fuels with the new system, an electric boiler will warm the water during off peak times while a specialized heat pump will recover any wasted heat from the cooling systems, reducing carbon emissions, reducing energy consumption and lowering heating and cooling costs. Green initiatives benefit not only the world but those who implement them. Humber will see a financial return of more than $1.5 million a year which will be reinvested in the college students and future green initiatives. It will reinforce Humber standing as a leader in sustainability and will create opportunities for students to learn from and take active roles in various aspects of the project. Huber's response to the climate crisis is one of action by charting the path to decarbonisation through innovation. We hope to inspire, to learn more about Huber's I E MP climate action plan and the switch project. Visit our website today. Humber dot C A slash sustainability slash switch.
