In 1909, a man named Charles Hercules Evitts began secretly buying up adjacent parcels of land in the flatbush section of Brooklyn, including the side of a garbage dump called Pigtown because of the pigs that once ate their fill their and the stench that filled the air. The first X ray studies confirmed that idea, but how it worked and what it was for puzzled scientists. For decades recently, high tech imaging has revealed the extraordinary truth. This unique clockwork machine was the world's first computer, a kind of bouncy bumpy ball made up of guns and flags and all the tears and horror and death that comes with war. It bounced right out and went bashing all about bumping into everything in store. And what was sad and most unfair is that it didn't really seem to care much who it bumped or why or what or four having averted disaster on two fronts, President john F, Kennedy and soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev would find a peaceful resolution to the Cuban missile crisis the following day.
