The self made man by Sam Shepherd. For him, it began in a moment of shattering stillness, something separated and fell away instinctively. His heart understood this something was the long cherished notion of himself as a distinct individual, an American entity called the self-made man. A sense of direction by William Pole art. My particular prejudice is that the theater is an art form and that everything I have to say to you will relate to theater as an art. When speaking of art, we make some generalizations that do not pertain to let us say business or industry. The most important characteristic of a work of art is unity. The one thing that every work of art has at its center is unity. If it lacks unity, it does not qualify as a work of art.
