Description

This is a scene selection from an adaptation of George MacDonald's \"Princess and the Goblin.\" This scene is a conversation between three members of a goblin family, and I'm essentially doing crazy voices for all three whilst distinguishing between them.

Hello. My name is Derek A Barkley and I will be reading a section from an adaptation of Princess and the Goblin by George Macdonald for some time. Qwerty worked away briskly towards midnight He began to feel rather hungry, so he dropped his pickaxe, got out a lump of bread, sat down on a heap of ore and ate his supper. Then he leaned back his head against Iraq for five minutes rest before beginning his work again. He had not kept the position for one minute before he heard what sounded like a voice inside the rock. It was a goblin voice. And we better get moving. There's no hurry. That wretched little mole won't be through. Tonight is not by any means at the thinnest place. But you still think the load comes through into our house? Yes, but a good bit further on that he's got to go yet. It struck him out to the side. Just hear tapping the very stone. It seemed to Qwerty where his head lay. You would have been through still, perhaps in case of accident, it would be well. Is getting doubt health her? You'll take the great chest. That's your business, you know? Yes, dad, You got to help me get it on my back. It's awfully well, there isn't as a matter of smoke. You're as strong as a mountain. Help her. Oh, you say so. But I could carry 10 times as much if it wasn't for my feet. That is your weak point, my boy. It's yours too, father. Well, to be honest, it's a goblin weakness. Why they come so soft? I don't know. Especially when our heads are so hard, you know? Yes, my boy England's glory is his head. To think. Other fellows up above there have to put on helmets and things when they go fighting. Why don't we wear shoes like them? I should like it. Especially when I kind of chest on my head. Well you see it's not the fashion or the king never wear shoes. The queen dies. Yes, but that's for distinction. The first queen, I mean the king's first wife wore shoes because she came from upstairs and so and she died. The next queen would not be inferior to her and would wear shoes too. Oh, pride. She is the Horace and forbidding them to the rest of us. I'm sure I wouldn't wear them. No, not for Oh dad, I wouldn't I can't think why either of them should didn't I tell you the first was from upstairs? That was the only silly thing I ever knew, his majesty, guilty of why should he marry an outlandish woman like that? I suppose he fell in love with our poop. All just as happy now with one of his own people did she die very soon when the young prince was born? How silly of her! We never do that. It must have been because she was shoes. What do they wear shoes up there? Now? That's a sensible question. And I will answer it. But in order to do so I must first tell you a secret. I once saw the queen's feet down her shoes. Yes. Without her shoes. Now, did you? How was it? Never you mind how it was? He didn't know I saw them. And what do you think? Toes, toes? What's that? Well, you may well ask. I wouldn't have done myself if I hadn't seen the queen's feet. Just imagine the ends of her feet were split up into five or six thin pieces. Oh, how hard? How could the king of felon in love with that? Well you forget that she wore shoes too. That is why all the men and women upstairs wear shoes. They can't bear the sight of their feet without them. Oh now I understand you ever wish for shoes again, Helfer. I'll give your feet a real thrashing. But if I had to choose that, don't you? Yeah, but with such a big blocks out of my head, a horde scream followed. Which party could only assume came from the stomping of a goblin child's foot nine, you seat of the bed and bedding? As soon as we finished our supper will be up and going, thank you.
