I don't see paulette so I choose a table near the food and I, the caterers and their black aprons guarding the pans and shooing away hungry guests like they're patrolling ******* checkpoint charlie. Finally, when it seems like I'll have to dine on my own hair and fingernail trimmings a plate of lettuce and grapefruit is placed before me as paulette plops down in the seat next to me. Oh my goodness! Isn't this nice? She says, and her eyes go big as she takes in the room. She has fixed her gaze above my head. So I look up to mm hmm. Yeah, I say, my mouth full of salad frescoes. Cool, isn't it? Great, Paulette says, indicating a massive headshot of laura all shoulder pads and smiles. I plan my retirement out of her books. Of course, she says, fidgeting with her water goblet. That was before I got laid off. But when I get back on my feet I'll go right back to her plan. She's amazing. I say, nodding thank you again for the ticket. It was really nice of you, paulette pats my hand and I try to take a mental picture of her face so I can recall it later. Pure unguarded warmth. A blonde woman crosses the stage and taps a microphone in the run up to laura's keynote, My attention slips in and out. I spend a long time watching the woman in front of me play, scrabble on her phone. I can't believe I'm going to see her in person. This is what it must have felt like to see Elvis. I started listening to her in high school when I inherited my mother's aged Acura and found a well worn laura Horne audiobook in her glove box. Laura and my mother shared a passion for statement blazers as the cover promised to teach me the secret to growing rich and as growing rich is an objectively pure and decent aim. I put in the disk. Fear is the only thing stopping you from getting rich. The voice on the cd began fears are the invading forces pummeling your defense and preventing you from erecting a sturdy castle built on sound decisions, hard work love and spiritual fulfillment, a reasonable proposition. I didn't turn it off and to conquer these fears. It's as simple as believing you can defeat them. If not you deny yourself the possibility of a tomorrow blessed with more. Well, I certainly didn't want that. We start by first conquering our fears and then capturing wealth, Both financial and spiritual embracing money, necessitated embracing fear. Okay, then embracing fear meant enduring for a short time things I didn't want to do and ignoring what was irrational, yet deeply felt in the body in favor of things that were ultimately to my benefit, quote Iraq demonstrate random getting rich meant doing things I was not inclined to do
