I walk around the store as I wait and walk into the book, I'll pharmacies don't normally have too much of a selection, but I have some time to kill and I could use a good book If I have to relax for the next few days. I find a couple of cheap murder mysteries and romance novels I haven't read yet and put them in my basket. I moved down to the magazines for a couple of gossip rags to read and a headline in the morning newspaper catches my eye. I grab it and throw it in the basket as well. I head to the checkout counter and grab a last minute chocolate bar, her shoes bar with almonds always makes the pain fade away just a little bit more. I pay for my items with my debit card and head back up to the pharmacy counter to collect my medication. I rushed back to my car. I need to read this article that is calling to me. As soon as I get in my car, I pull the newspaper from my bag and throw the remaining items in the passenger seat. I fully open the paper so I can read the article as I see in big letters. On a full page spread. The words read baby snatched from mother's womb officials in Perrysburg Ohio found the grisly discovery of an unknown young woman's body in the park. Sunday evening the woman appeared to have been pregnant. However, the baby was cut from the womb, her face was mutilated and fingerprints were burned off to hide the identity of the woman. Crime scene, analysts hoped to be able to find out who the woman is by her D. N. A. So they may contact the victim's family. So far, there has not been a missing persons report matching the victim's description. Police believe the woman could have possibly been a teen runaway or homeless authorities are asking the public to come forward if they have any information on the woman's identity or the newborns whereabouts. I finished reading the article and it can't help but wonder why this headline would call to me so badly. I want a baby in the worst way but I could never ever hurt anyone. I work in a fertility clinic for christ's sake. How could I even begin to consider this possibility? I closed the paper and throw it in the passenger seat with all the other books. I pull my bag with my prescription in it out of the grocery bag and open it to grab the medicine bottle open the lid and take a pain pill. It should kick in about the time I get home I start up the car and start to drive away. The closer I get to home, the louder the little voice in my head gets as I feel myself slip into a darker place in the world
